Diagnostic Steps:
Comprehensive History Taking
A comprehensive medical history is first obtained, with a focus on the developmental course, symptoms in childhood and adulthood, and the impact on various areas of life (school, study, work, family, friends).
In addition to the patient's life history, the medical history is also examined to ensure that there are no other underlying medical conditions that could be causing the symptoms.Detailed Testing
Family members or other significant individuals may also be involved in the diagnostic process if necessary, as they can often provide valuable information on the behavior of the individual being assessed.
In practice, it is often helpful to involve family members, as they can provide valuable information about the behavior of those affected. Behavioral observations outside of the actual examination situation are useful and should be used especially when the symptoms cannot be clearly explored.
In combination with self-assessment, this can provide a comprehensive picture of the development of the problem and its current situation.
Accurate Diagnosis
First part involves the medical examination in a personal setting to capture the symptomatology, any accompanying symptoms, and possible differential diagnoses, followed by a diagnostic interview.
Second part involves the evaluation of questionnaires, including self-report questionnaires, medical briefings, and previous diagnoses.
Final discussion takes place online in a personal setting. During this session, the examination results are discussed, and you will receive a specialized medical consultation regarding therapeutic treatment options.
This comprehensive approach ensures a thorough assessment of the individual's condition, allowing for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate recommendations for treatment.
In the second step, the questionnaires are evaluated, including self-report questionnaires, medical letters from other doctors, and previous diagnoses.
In a third step, the closing interview takes place - also online - in person. In this context, the results of the examination are discussed. You will receive a medically sound consultation about therapeutic treatment options.
After completing these steps, the diagnosis can be made or other diseases can be excluded.
